Choosing game icons

Game icons have to work at small sizes during play, so clarity beats detail. The Game Icons pack alone has thousands of solid silhouettes for items, abilities and creatures.

HUDs and inventories

Health, mana, coins, keys, maps and settings are read in a split second. Use bold solid silhouettes with a consistent size, and add color through the game's own UI rather than the icon.

Achievements and rewards

Trophies, medals, stars and badges celebrate progress. Flat and gradient artwork gives them more weight; use the same frame or background for every achievement so they feel like one collection.

Streams and communities

Streaming overlays, Discord servers and community sites use controllers, headsets, chat bubbles and emotes. Sticker packs with reactions work well for emotes and alerts.

Before you download

  • Test HUD icons at the size players will see them.
  • Keep every achievement in one frame and style.
  • Check the license: icons can't be used as a game's logo.

Which file formats do game icons come in?

Every icon downloads as SVG and PNG (16 to 1024 px). Editable line and solid icons also copy as React or Vue components, and whole packs download as one ZIP.
