Questions
Which favicon files does a website need?
A favicon.ico with 16, 32 and 48 px images for browsers and search results, an SVG favicon for modern browsers, a 180 px Apple touch icon, and 192 px and 512 px icons listed in a web app manifest. The website ZIP has all of them, plus the HTML to add.
Why do the iOS and Android icons fill the whole square?
Both systems cut icons into their own shape and don’t allow transparent corners. The generator fills the square with your background color and keeps the artwork inside the safe area, so nothing gets cropped.
What is a maskable icon?
Android and some browsers crop installed web apps into circles or rounded squares. The maskable icon keeps the artwork inside the middle 80% of the image, so the crop never cuts it.
Can I use my own logo?
Yes. Upload an SVG, PNG or JPG and it is turned into every icon size right in your browser. The file is not sent to IconHub. An SVG, or a PNG of at least 512 px, gives the sharpest result.
Can I use these icons in a commercial app?
Yes. IconHub icons are free for personal and commercial use with attribution (“Icons by IconHub”). Artwork you upload stays yours.
